If you follow me on Instagram you'll see that I have recently done some hauling. I've had myself on a buying freeze since December but since it lifted I've made rather large purchases at Sephora, Ulta and Colourpop. I never like to immediately blog about new items because I think as a reader, you'd rather hear about what I really think of the products after using them, right?
Honest Beauty Kissable Crayon in Petal Kiss: I've read such mixed reviews on this product line that I hesitated until it was actually available in a store. This is what it says, its a lovely kissable formula and is the only one where Simon doesn't immediately wipe his lips after we smooch. I really enjoy it although I wish I had chosen a lighter shade so that I could use it more everyday. #thumbsUP
Benefit Dew the Hoola: I've been using the powder form of this bronzer since Paula Dorf first applied it to Jennifer Aniston on the set of Friends so when Benefit decided to finally expand Hoola to a liquid bronzer, body makeup, lipgloss and beyond, I couldn't wait to try something. I love the formula of Dew the Hoola as it is matte enough that I can use it with my oily skin and it blends well with my foundation. Unfortunately the shade isn't quite dark enough to be a stand alone bronzer on my light olive complexion and surely not on a week that I've used self-tanner but if you have fairer skin you will love it! #thumbsDOWN
EOS Sweet Mint Balm: I've recently tried the oh so popular EOS balm balls but after two, I just feel they are a bit of a waste since once it gets half way down I can't easily use it anymore so this time I tried the stick. I really like the Sweet Mint flavor but I don't love the ingredients so I may look for a replacement when this is done but for the price and the scent I would give it #thumbsUP
And then I was sucked into the vortex which is the IT! Cosmetics aisle...
IT! Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC SPF50+: I was reluctant to try anything from this brand because it's always on QVC/HSN so I felt it lost a little credibility with this self proclaimed makeup snob but I'm wrong and I say I'm wrong. What do I like about this CC? 1. The coverage is amazingly medium and the finish looks like skin. 2. I have oily skin and in the winter I don't need to set it with powder however on the warmer days I definitely need to set my T-zone. 3. It seems like I can apply it with just about anything and still get a great finish. I've applied it with my IT! Foundation Brush , my Beauty Blender, the fav RealTechniques Expert Face Brush or even my Bobbi Brown Full Coverage Face Brush. 4. My absolute favorite thing to rave about it the SPF 50 protection which took me through the entire summer without a sunburn and doesn't give me any flashback thank goodness because I was wearing it Christmas Day when Simon proposed and we took an obscene amount of photos. 5. God bless foundations with a good pump and this one has it! It allows nearly every drop of product to come out which I appreciate. Ok, ok, ok, the last thing I will say short of driving you to the store to buy it yourself is that with daily use, one tube has lasted me FOUR months and I just purchased my third tube! #thumbsWAYUP
IT! Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC SPF50 Travel Size: This is just a travel size of the lovely product I just raved about... I wanted to have a smaller version to take to Cancun and Spain this summer, plus its tiny and let's be honest I love a travel size! #thumbsUP
IT! Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Airbrush SPF50: I didn't need this. I don't even like foundation powders but I was aboard the IT! train and caved, look, I admit it. I justified it because I'll be needing something light with SPF to touch up on the beach and I haven't used it much but I have dusted it over a sheer matte foundation and it added a nice little satin texture to it. #thumbsUP
IT! Cosmetics Brow Power: So similar to the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz but with better packaging and similar to the Dior Universal pencil but like the Dior one, the color is just a bit too light for my dark hair. It is good quality so instead of returning it, I'll add it to my PRO kit. Good product for for me it is a #thumbsDOWN
All in all it was a successful Ulta haul!
Stay tuned if you want to read my reviews on the ColourPop and Sephora haul coming up :)
