Since I had my lash extensions removed in August I've been on a mission to find a solid mascara option from the drugstore that could compare to the pricier brands I'd previously been using. I know you are supposed to keep your mascaras for 3 months but in an effort to do this experiment in a timely manner I committed to each one for 6 weeks and here's the breakdown or shakedown if you will.
The State of My Lashes
Rather long but not thick at all.
My Desired Effect
Separation, some volume but most importantly ease of removal. I also love a narrow brush opposed to a mammoth Dior-esque brush. Natural versus clumpy spider lash look.

Revlon Lash Potion Grow Luscious:
Purchased right after having the lash extensions removed when my biggest concern was using something gentle and growth encouraging to aid my badly broken lashes back to health. I didn't notice much growth encouragement and didn't care for the effect it gave. Although I'm ALL FOR a natural lash, this mascara didn't seem to do anything in the way of length or volume but I kept at it as it promises to improve the health of your lashes and after all that was my main concern.
Would I repurchase? No
Maybelline Great Lash Lots of Lashes:
Now this cult classic might have me in front of a firing squad with a bad review but luckily its not all sour... The unique triangle shaped rubber brush is what attracted me at first. I did enjoy this mascara and it didn't clump at all however maybe because of the oddly new shaped brush was a little hard to get used to. I made more mistakes while using this mascara than I have since I was 15!

Maybelline Mega Plush Lashes:
Next on the list was a favorite of a YouTuber I love so after months of hearing her go on and on about it, I decided to give it a go! The brush was on the larger end of what I like but the wide spacing of the bristles made it manageable for me. My favorite thing about this mascara was the my lashes did remain soft to the touch as the package promised. The color was a beautiful black and the wand was rather bendy making it easy to apply.
Would I repurchase? Yes
L'Oreal Telescopic Shocking Extension:
Again this was another You Tuber inspired purchase, although she raves about the waterproof version I'm not one for a struggle so I went for regular. The brush is super narrow and curvy like the Marilyn Hair Brush shape. The packaging is excessively long but I get why they did that trying to drive the telescopic point home and that's where the mild criticism stops... so far this one is my favorite of the bunch! It adds length, separation, seems to even encourage a little curl and is very easy to remove while still wearing extremely well. The finished look reminded me of the first mascara I ever fell in love with which was Estée Lauder More Than Mascara back in high school.
There are several beauty products that I prefer to buy from department stores like foundation, concealer & skincare but the drugstore brands really do great mascaras and at those prices you're not terribly disappointed when you don't fall head over heels in love with your latest find.
