Since a lot of you have been requesting my winter skincare routine I was excited to finally do it for you! I've held off for awhile since it's my first winter in Houston and I wasn't really sure how my skin was going to react to the drastic change in climate from my old home of tropical Florida. I've tried a few different routines but have found the one that works so I'm sticking to it. For my oily skin I alternate routines every other evening...
With Bioderma and Shiseido Facial Cotton. This removes all of my eye makeup and mascara quickly without irritating my eyes. Ditch your wipes (they're terrible for your skin anyway) because this is just as easy and far more effective.
With Tatcha Polished Classic Enzyme Powder. On the evenings where I'm going to be using the Rx treatment I try to keep my exfoliation fairly mild and this really does the trick! The smell is not my favorite but the way it makes my skin feel supple and soft... I can manage.
By applying a pea size amount of Retin A/Tretinoin Gel. I use this to keep breakouts at bay and help to diminish my pores.
Tap a tiny dab of Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair Eye Cream with Retinol. This drugstore find is a gem! I love it and it doesn't bother the sensitive skin around my eyes (a little secret is I use it on my lids too but don't tell because I doubt I'm 'supposed' to do that).
Whether it works or not, I use Anastasia Brow Enhancing Serum Advanced. The jury is still out... been using it since July and haven't seen much of a difference so I won't be repurchasing it however I will use it up because I hate to waste pricey product.
Jouer Lip Balm. This is really too glossy for bedtime but I like it so I'm going to use it up but once its gone I won't be repurchasing it.
I have insanely dry eyes and being a makeup addict does not help so I use Refresh Liquigel every night to help rehydrate.
Lastly I use my Sonicare, swish with Listerine and I'm done!
Every other night this is my routine:
Using Vivienne Westwood Cleansing Oil Light. If I'm wearing heavy eye makeup that day I will soak that off first with my Bioderma, otherwise this amazing oil takes everything off and doesn't leave behind a residue.
Using Vivienne Westwood Milk Lotion Light. My Rx gel really drys my skin and causes flakyness so I use a gentle lotion on the off days.
Soothe and brighten with Laura Mercier Repair Eye Serum. Much like your muscles, skin improves on the 'resting' days so I give my eyes a break from the Retinol and rehydrate with this lovely serum.
Again using the Anastasia Brow Enhancing Serum Advanced.
I keep Smith's Rosebud Save next to my bed and have for almost a decade. I use this religiously and it is the best $7.50 I've ever spent!
Using Refresh Liquigel. I used Restasis every day after my eye surgery but to be honest it burned like hell, was $150 per month and after a year I hadn't noticed improvement in my dry eye problem so I switched to Refresh which actually feels good And costs about $6.
This may seem like a lot to some but because I travel a lot with a extremely edited down nightly skincare routine, when I am home, I really try to stick to this regimen.
